After a few weeks of laptop troubles, I’m back people!!!!! So here’s a little tidbit of what I dealt with the past few weeks….

Let’s get the full story…

So about a year ago I spilled an entire pitcher of pina colada on the keyboard  of my, at the time, one year old MacBook pro. Pure instinct led me to immediately turn my laptop off and soak up the excess mixed drink. I then quickly turned my laptop upside down so that the liquid wouldn’t seep further into my laptop. I remembered the years of my family and I accidentally jumping into pools with our flip phones and then turning them off and putting them in a bowl of rice, so I  followed suit by placing my laptop with the screen facing the floor covered  in about two bags of rice on my bedroom floor- for three days. Although I was incredibly curious about the status of my laptop’s motherboard, I refused the temptation of turning my device back on. 3 days later, my now pina colada infused laptop and I made a trip to the apple store to unveil our fate. I got there, told them what happened, and of course they had me power it on… And just like magic…. My laptop had survived the blow of coconut flavored goodness. The grace of God allowed me to save the laptop that was gifted to me by my brother.

* 1 year later *

Out of thin air, my laptop started acting up. Every time I opened safari or any other application, a code of error would pop up. “OH NO, my laptop is finally feeling the buzz from the pina colada”- my initial thought. The other side of my brain led me to believe that it had survived this long, there is no way it just suddenly began to act crazy. Either the sugar finally corroded the organs of my laptop or maybe this was purely a software driven problem.

I went to apple on a busy day, and I explained to the worker about my liquid situation as well as the possibility of a virus because I had  installed windows on my computer. *COMMON MYTH: MACBOOKS CAN’T GET VIRUS, ACCORDING TO THE APPLE WORKER I HAD A 30 MIN PHONE CONVERSATION WITH- THEY CAN*. Of course, they ignored everything I said  about there possibly being a virus and told me with full confidence the issue was being caused by the liquid damage that had occurred. So, they sent my laptop out to be repaired for the liquid damage. I get the list of things they replaced – My speakers and the top case.” Hmm.. why would that affect the working of my safari?”, I pondered. The apple worker powered my laptop on to make sure it worked and – THE SAME ERROR CODE SCREEN THAT I LEFT MY COMPUTER WITH WAS STILL ON IT!!!! GRRR! I knew it was probably a software issue. My laptop is still not fixed and I already paid them for the work that was done. I told them once again I was originally concerned it was a software issue. The apple workers took my computer to the back and completely uninstalled my laptop and then reinstalled it with updated software. VOILLA!!! Problem solved. Thank goodness, but I was still ticked about spending money on something that really didn’t need fixed,
Lessons learned:

TRUST YOUR INSTINCT, if you think it’s a software issue- make them look at that first

Nail Inspiration

DSC_0254 (1).jpgDSC_0280.jpgSpring is approaching and what is better than a nail appointment to bring in the warm weather and the lovely smell of fresh cut grass?!

I LOVE the natural nails look and if I didn’t have the terrible habit of biting my nails, I probably would get a shellac manicure and be done with it. Unfortunately, for anxious girls like me  this is simply not an option. I decided to get acrylics on my fingers to lengthen my nails and asked for the coffin shape so they would look less blocky and more girly & natural looking.  I picked a transparent pinkish nail color with some shimmer to add some spice. Whether you wear a natural/acrylic nail, rock it with confidence & a smile on your face. It’s almost spring y’all we can make it through this winter I promise!!!!!

I always get french tips on my toes, definitely worth the extra 5$ 😉 Feet are pretty much the worst but when I have a fresh pedicure I always feel like a million bucks. My toe nail shape sucks so a solid color on my toes does nothing for me, therefore the french is my go to.

If you’re feeling stressed, over worked, or down a trip to the nail salon is a sure way to turn around your mood. Men love a manicured hand/foot, not like we do anything just for the boys but it’s definitely a plus. Make sure to tag/ send me pics of your beautiful spring mani/pedi’s. ❤

If you haven’t had a chance to check out my trip to San Diego, you can see it here!

So, I actually ordered this top from fashion nova about 2 weeks ago and unfortunately I think they may have took it off of their website :/ Also, the high waisted shorts were a find from the thrift store! Although I’m barefooted in this pic, in the video version of this look book, I’m wearing a sexy pair of pointed toe stilettos from Forever 21.

This romper I got from a Chinese Seller called Romwe, although it came out perfect, it took about 4 weeks to get to my door!

I am not exactly sure when, but somewhere along the lines of this crazy journey called life I lost value in myself. I lost track of who I was and soon became someone I could not even recognize. It’s tough to say, it’s tough to confess to the internet. I didn’t value my time, my body, my thoughts. My relationship with God became nonexistent seemingly overnight; I had no direction and I was lost.

When you don’t value yourself or see yourself as someone of worth, you will attract people that are more than willing to take advantage of you. Because who in their right mind is going to love someone that doesn’t love themselves? Who’s gonna think the world of someone who doesn’t think the world of themselves?

We hear all the time, “The quality of your thoughts is the quality of your life.” But how can your thoughts change your life? It seems so abstract and impossible until you dedicate yourself to changing your daily thoughts. If this is something that interests you, I am going to list three books at the end of this post that have changed the way I have live my life, and increased my happiness by approximately 30 thousand percent.

It’s so easy to get discouraged and lost if you  feel like you have no purpose in life or if you simply don’t feel inspired to accomplish something, whatever that may be. I recommend you find something that sets your heart on fire. For me, my worst enemy in life has been the fear of failure. Once you conquer that fear and realize that the only way you will ever accomplish your dreams is to put yourself out there and just plainly, START.. you are one step closer to achieving whatever you put your mind to. If you are struggling finding your purpose in life or what you really want to do, I recommend you take a look at this:

IMG_4591-1.PNGCourtesy of Lewis Mocker’s snap chat @loopylitez  Worth the 30 seconds it takes to add someone! Basically, your purpose is the dot. Find something that serves others, you are good at, you get paid for it (you can monetize anything), and something that you love. He is SO incredibly intelligent and I have learned so much from his snap stories it’s actually insane. He also has a youtube channel here: Lewis’ Youtube Channel

What I’m trying to say, is fall in love with bettering yourself. Whether it be working out, reading books about your niche, studying for your classes, or all of the above. I found that working towards something that I want to desperately achieve has ripped the sadness/laziness right out of me. Decide what you want, visualize it, and begin to work towards its attainment.

“Just remember… your career, education, and money is not going to wake up one day and decide to leave you”

3 books I believe will change your life:

“Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill

“Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki

My Relationship With A Sociopath

To be completely frank, I had no idea what a sociopath was/ their signs and signals until a girl told me I was dating one.

Did you know 1 in 25 people are sociopaths?

This disorder does not have a specific gender/age/race it targets anyone and everyone. According to google 1 in 25 people are sociopaths, so yes, odds are you will have a run in with a sociopath.

I am not a psychologist nor have I even taken a psychology course in my 15 years of education, but I have took the liberty of self educating myself about sociopaths through various online articles and youtube videos. After being through such a tumultuous relationship, I never wanted to be fooled, embarrassed, humiliated, heartbroken by a sociopath again nor do I want any of my lovely readers to have to experience the pain either. So now, I know a sociopath when I meet them, or less than 14 days within meeting them.
If you are anything like me, you have a terrible judge of character stemming from the desire to seek out the good and, also, believe in people. Although I do still seek the good in people and forgive often, I have learned to suppress these feelings while dealing with a sociopath.

First, What even is a sociopath?

Someone who doesn’t have a conscience
This person does not feel empathy for others
They only express “love” to manipulate people
This person is infatuated with power and controlling others

Recognizing a sociopath:

When you meet this person, they will lie to you and manipulate you to become the person of your dreams. They have an uncanny way of morphing themselves into whatever you want them to be, all through lies and deception. You might even say to yourself “I feel like I’ve been waiting all my life to meet someone like him/her”

The sociopath’s charming demeanor will be used to lure you into their grasps, and once they have you in their clutches, in a state of infatuation/obsession, the manipulation will begin.

In some cases, you’ll realize things with this person is moving really fast, they tell you they love you after a month of knowing you. This is to swoon you.

Another clear sign of sociopathy is that they will begin to cut you off from your family and friends. They want you all to their self. They don’t want any outside source to relay to you that you are being controlled.
Often in the early stages of the relationship, your friends will warn you with their good intentions, telling you that they believe he/she’s no good for you. Maybe even your family sees it. Unfortunately for them, you may begin to resent them for their disapproval. This ultimately causes you to drift further and further apart. You are suddenly isolated and left alone with the sociopath.

From an outside perspective it’s easy to judge the victim of the manipulation because the answer seems so simple. Why would you stay in exclusive relationship with someone who lied, cheated, and manipulated you. I, myself, often heard “How did you let all of that happen?” “Why didn’t you just leave him?”

The truth is, I didn’t leave because I was in love with this person,I didn’t leave because I thought he loved me, too, I didn’t leave because he made me feel like I wasn’t worthy of a healthy relationship, and I didn’t leave because I thought I found the man of my dreams and that I may never love again if I lost him. I didn’t leave because I was so young and green and naive and I didn’t realize that not everyone has the same intentions as I do….

I stayed in this unhealthy relationship for far too long and I made up excuse after excuse for this person. “I know they love me because they do a,b,c” But I failed to say “They don’t love me because they do x,y,z”

This is why I believe recognizing the signs of a sociopath is so freaking important in today’s dating scene. I would have rather known about this disorder before I jumped into a relationship with someone who began to act like a monster.

I now know that professional help is the only thing that will help this person deal with this antisocial personality disorder. Unfortunately, the negative stigma around mental health prevents a lot of people from getting their issues taken care of. There is nothing wrong for seeking help, but that lil tid bit is for another day.

The harsh reality of the aftermath to the victim of their sorcery, Sociopaths are incapable of loving other people. And they are left to deal with the pain of this fact, alone.

The single handedly worst fact about loving a sociopath, especially for an extended period of time, is when facing the truth: your significant other really doesn’t actually love you and their comforting words are hollow….. Someone you thought you knew becomes unrecognizable.

Anyone who may be recovering from this kind of unhealthy relationship, please realize that this person didn’t love you because you aren’t worthy of love, but because they are literally incapable of giving love the way you need. The realization of this is obviously heartbreaking and takes a lot of time and understanding of one’s self.

Recognizing the signs of a sociopath and educating yourself of their existence is crucial because with a little bit of knowledge can save you a whole lot of time, embarrassment, and heartbreak.

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her, and that right early.” -Holy Bible

“Whenever you go out-of-doors, draw the chin in, carry the crown of the head high, and fill the lungs to the utmost; drink in the sunshine; greet your friends with a smile, and put soul into every handclasp. Do not fear being misunderstood and do not waste a minute thinking about your enemies. Try to fix firmly in your mind what you would like to do; and then, without veering off direction, you will move straight to the goal. Keep your mind on the great and splendid things you would like to do, and then, as the days go gliding away, you will find yourself unconsciously seizing upon the opportunities That are required for the fulfillment of your desire, just as the coral insect takes from running tide the element it needs. Picture in your mind the able, earnest, useful person you desire to be, and the thought you hold is hourly transforming you into that particular individual. . . . Thought is supreme. Preserve a right mental attitude- the attitude of courage, frankness, and good cheer. To think rightly is to create. All things come through desire and every sincere prayer is answered. We become like that on which our hearts are fixed. Carry your chin in and the crown of your head high. We are gods in the chrysalis” – Elbert Hubbard

“Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain-and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving” -Dale Carnegie

Saving Money on Gla$$e$

As a pre teen, I sat approx two feet away from the tv watching some of my favorite shows including  Desperate Housewives, Oprah, or Grey’s Anatomy (yanno, the normal shows every 10 year old watches, lol). I was always scolded by my family including my grandparents, siblings, and of course my parents, but I didn’t change my ways due to my lack of perspective of how my eyes would be affected in the long run.

Well anyway, I went from having great vision to very very very poor vision… I always wanted glasses in elementary school so I wasn’t really affected by this new change in my life until as I got older my health insurance got shittier and I learned the value of a dollar and now I dread buying new contacts/glasses every year because every time I go to the dang eye doctor my vision seems to worsen :/

Anyway, without fantastic health insurance, glasses can put a huge dent in your pocket. (bout 500 doll hairs dent)

A few years ago I was RELIEVED when my aunt introduced my to a website called Warby Parker where you can get eyeglasses  starting at 95 freaking doll hairs! Yes, including lenses!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been a loyal customer to Warby Parker for the past 3 years and I have never had any issues with their service.

1. They have a free at home try on, so you can decide what frames best suit your face, in the comfort of your bedroom!

2. They have a 30 day no questions asked return policy so If you decide that these glasses aren’t for you, you will be refunded in full!

3. For every pair of glasses sold, they donate a pair to someone in need

4. Right now they are partnered with Girl Up which they describe as “an organization that encourages leadership opportunities for girls around the world”

5. Their main priority is to serve you! Your glasses come with a glasses case!
Warby Parker’s variety is extensive and despite your style, I’m sure you will be able to find a pair of glasses that suits you!

A little bit about MY glasses

So, the glasses I chose were a tad more expensive costing me about 150$

The style I purchased this time is Lilia and I’m super impressed with the quality and durability of these glasses! The only thing I warn you about this style is that they are more of a dull bronze than a polished gold. This is me being a little nit picky, but I called them about this and the customer service was so kind and told me to take them to the nearest store and they would take care of it for me.

And then I took it upon myself to do some research and I saw on the website that they were apparently supposed  to be that color…..

See what I mean? They appear a little more dull when they are on her face rather than the initial pic? A little bit? Oh you don’t? Well dang. Just a little forewarning!!!  In my option, they are not as bright as as initial pic!

Hope I helped some of ya out! Thank you for all the love and support!!!!
